Our Why
17
veterans lost every 24 hours
Every 24 hours, 17 veterans take their own lives.*
For many people, this is a statistic. For the founders of Black Collar Coffee, this is March 30, 2012 — when their brother, a tradesman and combat veteran, took his own life.
When Dave died, the number being reported was 22 a day. Based on the 2025 report, the current figure is 17. But for a lot of veterans, "The 22" was never just a statistic. It's a generation of guys they lost that year. Dave was one of them.
Black Collar Coffee is his legacy. Every cup is a reminder that no one earns the morning alone.
Black Collar Coffee was started to honor his memory and support Stop Soldier Suicide. $1 from every item sold is donated to Stop Soldier Suicide.
*The Department of Veterans Affairs 2025 Report
The black collar represents everyone who shows up before anyone else does — on job sites, in garages, on oil rigs, on patrol, and ends the day with bruised and calloused hands. The ones the world relies on and doesn't even realize.
Every purchase sends $1 to Stop Soldier Suicide, because this brand believes that the same toughness that builds buildings and protects communities shouldn't have to be carried alone.
